Small Business Marketing – Apr 12 – Day 22 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 12

Got my start in what is becoming a regular time at 9 AM this morning. Did a little light reading as I like to do on some financial news for about 30 minutes.

After grabbing some breakfast, which I highly recommend doing if you’re not already because it sets your day up properly, I started talking with my brother regarding some different business building plans and search engine tactics.

He recently completed our script which is going to drop the information in our mobile marketing database as well as our separate database we’re using icontact for e-mail marketing.

I talked with Steve at 10:22 AM and we went over some of the marketing tactics that can be worked with a local title company he’s been using. He highlighted the value of old-school marketing tactics.

Ken has grown the title company’s business over 30% in 2010 by doing the old phone call and in person face-to-face meeting tactics. There is some schmoozing involved and some friendly conversation. However, he also highlights that he wants their business and their referrals. And that their title company provides a high level of service to be worthy of being their exclusive provider and the exclusive title company they refer to their friends.

It’s becoming more clear that we need to have Steve getting on the phone for an hour at least each day following up with his contacts and building those types of relationships. One of the first things Steve’s going to have to do is get back in contact with all of the people, vendors, and new home and custom home builders who he dealt with when he had his cabinet business.

This is the low hanging fruit which will be the highest and best use of his time.

Then we talked about he and Andrew going over to a couple of the new homebuilder neighborhoods and getting video footage that we can start marketing.

Things are moving along and actually picking up steam which I’m excited about.

I wrote out the bullet points which will be the sales copy on our main landing page that our homebuyer people will be seen. I got that e-mail over to Blake so she can get it live on the site.

I also started going through some of the Keller Williams materials marketing materials for buyers. There’s some decent stuff there that we can use in our videos but it’s pretty much “me too” type of information.

There’s a bunch of stuff about how “I provide the best service, and I handle all the details and the negotiations for you” that you hear from almost every realtor. Nothing spectacular or differentiating in these things.

So I had to re-purpose some of that and come up with my own unique positioning for what Barb and Steve provide to people. Especially when you’re getting leads from the Internet you have to differentiate yourself in a preferred way because people are doing their research and looking at many if not all of your competitors.

So you’ve got to give them the absolutely most powerfully compelling reason to choose you over the other five or 10 or more competitors that person could choose.

Having videos with Barb and Steve’s face and conveying a compelling and educational message to home buyers is the key.

The company meeting which will only be the second time the fantastic 4 of us have been together is going down from 2 to 4 PM and I’m currently prepping for that now.

We got lots of things done in only an hour and 32 minutes. Barb had just gone through training where they talked about “101 different ways to generate leads”.

This was very enlightening because we got some ideas for income producing activity she can be doing on a weekly basis. One of the cool ones was to sit at Starbucks, pay a very stiff $50 covering all of the customers who come in up to that point, and just having the barista point over at Barb.

She’ll have her laptop with “I’m a Texas realtor” sticker plastered on it. We also talked about car signs and framing a little 20 second to 30 second pitch for how people would present us for getting referrals.

There was also the idea of getting to know the active agents in the neighborhoods we are targeting because they’re likely to have their own buyers list already prepared. This can help us get our listings in those neighborhoods sold much faster.

For Steve it’s to start going to the Chamber of Commerce and some various service providers like high-end car dealers, real estate contractors like roofers or plumbers, and other ideas for bird dogs who can send us deals they come across.

We also talked about expired listings in a way we can approach these people that other realtors are not doing. These guys get bombarded by realtors calling them wanting to re-list their property.

But this is a point where they have little trust in realtors so it has to be approached a different way to get past those barriers.

We got an excellent idea for how to do a video to these people that we’re going to test out.

Also there was the idea of hosting a party at different levels. One would just be to host a party at Steve’s house. The other would be to host a preview party or a move-in party for our clients.

Obviously, these would have different goals but we get to meet people in a relaxed atmosphere who know we’re in the real estate business.

Finally, we started putting together our team of other related service people. I’m talking about title company, a mortgage broker, home inspector, a home appraiser, and other services we would need to make sure deals close fast and in an efficient manner without any hiccups.

It was a good meeting that we’ll have to start implementing what we talked about. Then I had to go home and get ready for the Internet marketing party which is here in Austin.

It was a good party and I met a few people who we might be able to work with in the future.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 11 – Day 22 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 11

Started out about 9 AM today. New roommate got paid up and started moving in.

The morning was filled mostly with administrative type catch up. I took a digital photo of the front and back of a Google places post card to send to the showroom floor contact of my cabinets client. I have had to send this card 4 different times now and still they say they haven’t received it.

This is getting quite frustrating because I just set up 2 real estate listings 6 days ago and got the postcard with an 8 days. Hopefully this will get the job done.

I got on the phone with my brother regarding the custom code he is writing for me which will drop the appropriate information in the icontact database as well as the Izigg mobile marketing database. I’ll give him the other login he needs so he can complete the code and we can start using it immediately.

The middle part of my day took a good bit of a break to go out and get Papa John’s pizza because it’s their Monday special. Then I got back and recorded a quick Jing video to send out to my worker so she could start gathering citations for our 2 new Google places real estate listings.

I set up a new keyword inside of the mobile marketing account “NAR”. This stands for national Association of realtors.

Steve was asking at a mastermind meeting of the Texas Association realtors for most of the day and was wanting to demonstrate how mobile marketing could help these realtors but none of them seem to grasp the concept. Even though they acknowledged how cool texting marketing is.

I had been in contact with Andrew most of the day and he did get the O’Callahan video completed. Not much progress though on the rocky creek video.

We came to find out the footage we had was no good and so are moving on to Belterra.

We’ll have to get some more footage of rocky creek.

Andrew and I attempted remote assistance working between the Windows users to access to that but to no avail.

I did talk with Steve about the fact that we are going to need hosting software or advertising, a cool mobile application that a realtor is using that we want to model, scheduled a meeting with Kenn Renner, and also scheduled the company summit of the fantastic 4.

We got our second whiteboard up in the office HQ which will be the weekly schedule for each of us. The main focus this week as I’ve been going through the “good to great” CDs is to focus on your or “hedgehog concept”. This is the one simple thing that you do better than anyone else in the world.

Our main focus is going to be on doing classified ads and videos until we build out the keywords that we’re shooting for. Until this is done nothing else matters because we are all about generating buyer and seller leads right now.

Barb got another listing of one of the neighbors who lives close to her. So things are happening and she’s got another listing appointment set for Thursday. She also starts the Bold training program in a couple of weeks which will be outstanding.

Another thing I’m learning in the “good to great” series is that you once you get your hedgehog concept you just keep turning the flywheel which makes it work. Basically you take some consistent actions and get incremental progress. Over time that momentum builds on itself and gains tremendous traction like a snowball which starts out very small but after rolling down the mountain speeds up quickly and grows to incredible size.

I also got the call to action image for our ads taken care of. It says text home buy to “90210″ for your free videos “top 3 things you must know before buying your home”.

We took a look at another local realtor’s site who is doing some things well and we want to model and improve upon.

Steve and I started laying the foundation for the homebuyer videotapes that we’re going to be creating. A shooting of this footage will happen tomorrow.

Another highly productive day in the 45 days to freedom small business market challenge which follow right here on twitter.

Learning day again on Sunday. Very light learning and reading done today. Resting up for what promises to be another big week ahead.

Saturday was spent learning some new skills and mainly recovering from the long week.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 8 – Day 19 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 8

At first glance today was both an interesting and a frustrating day. I awoke around 9 and got a phone call at 9:14 AM that we were having a meeting with Blake who may be our intern starting at 10.

So this is not the start to my morning than I had envisioned but I had to hop into the shower and get ready to go. I made it over there at five after 10.

We had an excellent meeting with Blake and learned that her goal is to have her own web design company. She really loves the graphic design and that whole aspect of the web and web business.

She had also taken a look at AustinRealEstateQueen.com and was very impressed with it so much so that she built a site around it last night.

I got a little bit frustrated because we were having some issues getting the GoDaddy FTP information but then I remembered back. I’ve been going through “Good to Great” which is a fantastic study that was done by Jim Collins on why some companies in the Fortune 500 transcend good and made it to the level of greatness.

His definition of greatness was vastly outperforming the market over a 10 year time frame. And one of the things he found was the catalyst at the start of the transition was a change in leadership at the top.

This new leadership focused on getting the right people in the company and putting them in the right positions. The leadership also focused on getting the wrong people out of the company as quickly as possible.

One of the things the leaders told him during the interviews was that sometimes it seems like it took a very long time to find the right people but they always considered that search for quality people and all the time it took to be the most valuable use of their time.

Blake is very enthusiastic and seems like she’ll be a good fit for the team. So this was time well spent.

Andrew is still working on the O’Callaghan listing video that we need to get caught up. He got distracted by connecting his droid to his Mac so that he could control the the Mac from his droid. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get to see his computer screen on his droid’s screen so I don’t see any practical use for this.

It’s cool to tinker with the gadget and do cool things but it doesn’t make profits.

Steve and I did a little bit of brainstorming work on publicity and some different angles we can take on stories to potentially get media coverage.

One truly exciting thing that happened today is we got both postcards back from Google on our Google places listings. This is absolutely killer because only eight days ago I set these listings up.

On the other hand, my cabinets client I have set up a 2nd places listings for him with the Audio/Visual business and have been attempting to get the Google postcard for the last six weeks to no avail.

This is excellent confirmation for me that Google is on the ball and sending these things out in a timely fashion. I definitely got back in touch with my client and said to get on the mail person that works our second office location.

Also my time is going to be spent developing the home buyer guide and resources we are going to give away to potential buyers in the marketplace. This is a very important piece of our marketing campaign and has my full focus and is number 1 priority right now.

To wrap up the day we went ahead and got signed up for an Apple workshop using iMovie that is going down tomorrow morning.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 7 – Day 18 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 7

A bit later start this morning at about 9:00 am since I stayed up late last night going through some training materials.

I called Bryant early on to find out about the landing page but went to voicemail. I talked with Steve and he mentioned the idea of how Andrew may want to do some video and web design class. I mentioned to him that my sisters had done the dual credit program at ACC when they were at Austin high school.

Basically, when you’re a high school student and live in the Austin Community College tax district you can take courses at ACC for free. If you’re outside the ACC tax district but you’re in high school you can take courses for only $40 each.

I talked a little bit about it with Andrew and got a lukewarm response. The session starts May 23 so I gave him about a week to decide so we can get the paperwork in.

I got a little bit clearer and designed out on a sheet of paper what each day’s activities should entail for our real estate company. It also gave Steve clarity looking at these.

He and Andrew did visit Belterra and got video footage we’ll be using.

Steve and I did some searching on craigslist to see what the competition was doing. He also told me about this service called postlets which we’ll definitely be making use of.

We talked a little bit more about the schedule and what needs to happen.

I went over with Andrew that we need the O’Callahan listing video wrapped and ready for promotion today. And also getting the first 20 craigslist ads built and ready to go.

We changed our strategy a little bit when I had an odd moment.

We’ve been stuck in a holding pattern waiting for this landing page and this complex custom coded form. What we’re going to test is starting to do some lead gen right now and just have people text in “homebuy” to 90210.

We’re just going to have this in our craigslist ad right away so it doesn’t even direct them to a website. They can just text in to get the information they want.

This way we can start posting and generating leads immediately. When in doubt, swift lead gen action is always the preferred activity to be doing.  Your process doesn’t have to be perfect to get results.

Getting into action builds momentum and you improve your process as you go along. Inertia & paralysis of analysis on the other hand often kill dreams and businesses.

Also, we’re going to incorporate this strategy into our video for the O’Callahan listing.

Barb was very excited as were the rest of us in the company that she is going to be doing the Bold program which is a training Keller Williams offers. It’s cool because while they don’t guarantee you’ll get 8 listings it is basically implied. Many of the realtors who’ve gone through the program have done that and more during the course.

This will be a major boon to Barb in both training and transaction generating experience.

Tonight I’m going to be working on creating a valuable free content giveaway that homebuyers would be interested in. This will be the enticement offered to them for texting in to get more information.

And also I’m going to keep going through the “Good to Great” CD series.

Steve also had a brilliant revelation to reconnect with some of his new home builder and custom home builder contacts here locally that he dealt with when he had a custom cabinet shop. This way we can reconnect with those guys and list their properties for them.

Also he had another “lightbulb” moment where he could talk about different strategies for construction and remodeling in a set of training videos. Basically, some people might be scared of doing a bathroom remodel but he can talk them through the steps that they would need to take and show it’s not a scary process.

I also interjected that we can have videos of him talking through “the top 5 most important features” to check when you’re walking through a property. This way you can spot any problem areas before putting in offers on properties you don’t want to move forward on.

We can also do this for new homes. We can go through the “top 5 things to look for before purchasing a new home” to ensure that it was constructed with quality in mind and it was built to last.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 6 – Day 17 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 6
by

Today was a big day with movement on many different fronts. It started very early for me at 7 AM because Steve is coming by the house at 7:15 AM to give me a ride to a social media live event which started at 8 AM.

We got there in plenty of time and enjoyed some breakfast even though it was almost all sugary pastries and fruit. Not an ideal breakfast for a healthy minded person like myself.

However, the content for the social media live event was fantastic. It sparked some new ideas for me and also showed me some of the ways people are using twitter and Facebook and how to capitalize on that.

These tools can be fantastic for business. But only when used properly. Most people are using them incorrectly and completely wasting their time.

They showed a statistic that 50% of people on twitter never listen at all. The numbers are fairly similar for Facebook. So the status updates are fairly useless.

“So what’s the solution?”

To actually listen is the solution. People are asking questions and posting questions in their status updates. If you’re one of the very few people who are listening and will provide them with an answer you move to the top of that person’s list.

They will trust you more and respect you. And of course they follow your recommendation to buy whatever solution was in your answer.

They will definitely remember you and recommend you to their friends.

I plan to put many of these ideas into practice with our twitter and Facebook accounts set up for real estate.

There were also some cool tips on how to use Facebook friend lists and filtering your news feed down based on these lists of friends you set up. This way you can block out the noise that occurs many times on Facebook’s default newsfeed.

He also talked a little bit about groups and how to answer questions and use those for market research. And there is little bit about the different types of posts you can do in Facebook like places, photos, videos and of course text updates like status updates and posting links.

Facebook is currently placing their highest emphasis and authority on places postings because they want to beat out foursquare and Gowalla.

Also reviews on various sites like zillow, redfin, yelp, Citysearch and the other main sites are starting to creep in for real estate agents.

We got back to the office HQ and jumped on a webinar about publicity. There were a couple of excellent Golden Nuggets especially about how to get local TV and radio publicity.

Also a killer tip was that apparently CNN and ABC News allows user generated video. I thought only YouTube and the other main video sharing sites did this. I’m definitely going to look into how to do this on CNN.

Andrew is working with Barb to get her screen flow recording and video done. She did about six takes and showed vast improvement on the final one.

Andrew started getting our ads for craigslist built. He and Barb also went out to one of the listings and took video footage of the home that we are going to market.

Steve and I worked a lot on developing and narrowing down what the mission-critical activities that successful real estate businesses must do on a weekly basis in order to achieve its goals.

We set up the core activities. Then I created a chart of some of the subsets under those main core activities and actual steps and tasks that would have to be done. Next we started talking about parsing activities out to the members of the team and roughly how long each activity should take each week.

This is very important stuff to get organized concerning your weekly activities. And I’m talking mainly about income producing activities not busy work.

Steve and I then set to work on recording a video of him which will be reintroducing him to the people he’s met at various business meetings and networking events here locally in Austin over the past 2 years. It’s going to be the “Ask Steve” model.

Basically, we’re going to send text and e-mail campaigns to the people he’s collected business cards from. The message in that first communication will direct them to the webpage we set up with this intro video of Steve, some bullet points, and a form where they can submit their questions.

Anytime you’re doing networking you always want to give value first before you ask for anything in return.

I talked to Bryant a little bit and he has all the landing pages for the cabinets pay per click campaign done. So I’m greatly relieved about that. He also said the real estate landing page was at the top of his list and should be done by now. I’ll have to check on that with him.

Steve, myself and Barb went to an open house Standard Pacific homebuilder was hosting out in the Rough Hollow neighborhood out in Lakeway. This was eye-opening to see what some of the new home builders are building and the price ranges they’re offering their properties in.

We met an interesting lady named Jazz whose a marketing director for the Champions School of Real Estate. There’s some definite opportunity to work with her in terms of building our real estate team. She’s a dynamic friendly lady with lots of skills.

Also I’ve never met a lady named Jazz so she had that cool name working in her favor.

While at the open house Steve and I talked about the company structure and what is the highest and best use of each team member’s time. We want to maximize the ROI on our time spent as much or more so than the money we invest in the company.

There are only 2 resources in business money and time. How you use those determines the overall success or lack of success your company achieves.

Of the 2 resources time is far more valuable because it’s the only one you can’t get back.

So we’re focusing on maximum ROI time and cash strategies. We want to do that for things that we’re focusing on in terms of our business.

The 4 things we’re focusing on are:

1. focus
2. leverage
3. implementation
4. the right people.

Steve’s highest and best use of his time is going out networking and allowing opportunities to come our way because of his activity out in the marketplace. My highest and best use of time will be leading the company, designing the marketing plans, and overseeing their implementation.

It was a fantastically productive day. Keep track of the small business marketing challenge right here on twitter.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 5 – Day 16 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 5

Got going early this morning and was over at the office HQ by 8:15 AM. Talked with Steve about the day’s activities and the builders he was going to visit. Talked with Andrew about the videos we’re going to be working on for today.

Talked a couple different times to Bryant to see about getting the landing page for the real estate business as well as the pay per click campaign for my cabinets client setup. Both are still in limbo at the moment but some progress is being made.

I did the keyword research around a video game project Andrew and I are going to be starting. He really likes videogames and so we’re going to test out the Video Marketing Goldmine strategy in the videogame market.

This will give Andrew a chance to do something he’s passionate about for an hour or two a day and we can make some money doing it. However, the biggest key is it won’t take away our focus where 90% of our time is building out the real estate agent business.

I got a post done on the Lachance Realty.com website.

Added a couple more reviews to my yelp and Citysearch accounts. Also I finally found where to add a new business to Citysearch and added my cabinets client to their site.

I was thinking about the different landing pages and how the headers should look. I designed a buyers header and a seller’s header. I should say I drew out on a piece of paper what they will look like and now have to find a graphic designer who can make them a digital reality.

We’ve got a meeting with Blake who’s a local college student on Friday to see whether she wants to be a part of our successful real estate business project. And also whether she has the skills to do what we need to do.

Andrew took lots of video footage of himself playing the game, leveling up, and completing various missions. We weren’t sure if the digital camcorder footage was going to be high enough quality.

We suspected we might have to buy a capture card for the Xbox 360. But after making a few tweaks to the lighting and brightness on the screen we gave it a go with the camcorder recording. We loaded a small clip to YouTube and it came out stunningly well in high quality.

So we’re ready to rock on there. Also Andrew’s priority for the day was to get our craigslist ads built so we’ll have 20 of those to post.

Steve had his meeting with broker Stephanie to bring Ivette aboard the team. He got a better understanding of how the team structure and teambuilding at Keller Williams works and what the benefits are both for the agents, the team builder, and Keller Williams itself.

He then spent the afternoon visiting builders out in Lakeway, Dripping Springs, and other parts of South Austin. He was definitely jazzed after seeing all the activity and has a renewed fervor for the real estate business.

I came to the realization that we are going to have to start cranking out videos because Barb is deep into doing research and servicing current clients.

So we’re getting plenty of footage around the neighborhoods we want to target and are going to have Steve just talk to them on the video. This way we can load them to YouTube and start promoting them massively.

I thought of a couple of different ideas and locations for where we can place large vinyl banners. I was also attempting to see how we can re-purpose the signs I have from a real estate investing business four years ago for what we’re doing right now. It seems a bit pricey.

I also got a big idea for how Steve can reconnect with his entire network that he’s been meeting over the last 2 years. It will involve a combination of text and e-mail campaign directly to an “ask Steve” type of page.

This will allow the people we’re contacting to get value from us immediately. It will also allow those who don’t want to have any contact with us to say so and be taken off of our network contact list.

Andrew and I talk a little bit about what people type into the craigslist search box when they’re looking for real estate. Some very good insights were gleaned here.

We also went through some craigslist training. And now I’m gonna send over some code to my brother so he can build a custom form which will drop our leads and customer info into our e-mail autoresponder and our mobile text broadcast autoresponder.

It’s been a long day but a lot of good actions were taken. Check out the feed of stories of the small business marketing challenge on twitter.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 4 – Day 15 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 4

Today started out with an early call to a craigslist expert at 8 AM my time which was 9 AM his time because he’s over in Georgia.

I first contacted him via text last Friday evening. It was pretty amazing. I was watching the videos on his YouTube channel pertaining to craigslist and how to properly post when during 1 of his videos he blurted out his cell phone number and to text him with any issues.

So I took him up on the offer and we started talking a little bit. Then I sent him an e-mail with a few questions I had about his craigslist training program.

I also told him that I like to talk with product owners or creators before making a purchase because I’ve bought many bad programs in the past and it’s an additional quality control hurdle I have in place.

We talked about how softwares don’t really work for craigslist and what some of the best practices are right now. He told me about his videogame console repair business and how he was using craigslist to help with that. He also told me about his grow box business where he didn’t do a whole lot of promotion but did create about 40 to 50 videos and has gotten over 1 million views already so far on these YouTube videos.

It was over a 33 minute conversation and was very enlightening. He also told me how to put a tracking code in the craigslist ads so we can see when people in our market are most active viewing the ads and adjust our posting times accordingly.

This tip alone was worth the price of the call (which was free).

I e-mailed him back asking about the special discount which had expired on March 31. He would not give me that $49 price but he did give me a $69 price which was $30 off of the regular price of $99. I believe it’s going to be well worth it.

This also follows along with what I believe. When you reach out to people you can do mutually beneficial things and negotiate deals for each person’s benefit. It’s always good to negotiate and not have to pay retail.

I talked with Bryant a little bit later in the day to get our pay per click campaign rolling. He has the contents of the initial 4 pages that we’re going to be marketing. He was waiting on me to set up a Google account which I’ve now done so he can get the tracking code.

With any sort of advertising you’re doing you want to have some form of tracking to see what’s effective. When you put in place the 80/20 rule you eliminate what isn’t working and just focus all your efforts on maximizing the 20% that is working.

So he’s going to have those pages built and the tracking code in their by Tuesday morning which is tomorrow.

Steve went to a meeting with Ivette who is going to join our real estate team. She has a real estate agent license as well as her insurance agent license and is looking for a good team to be a part of. They’ll be meeting with the Keller Williams people tomorrow at 1:30 PM to go through what the company has to offer and the sign-up process.

Steve got back to the office HQ where he and I then went over to a meeting at the Keller Williams real estate office that was scheduled from 1 to 3. It turned out a miscommunication happened and it wasn’t supposed to start until 1:30 PM.

We were only able to stay for a little over 30 minutes because we had to get on a call with 1 of the big players in our mobile marketing platform. He took us through some of the options and possibilities we have with the system.

I’ve not done a whole lot of mobile marketing and definitely needed a guide around the admin area which he did.

Then we worked out what the best use of Steve’s time would be in terms of leveraged activities. About 6 to 7 hours per week will be spent building and maintaining the CRM system. Which is in iContact.

He’ll spend about 5 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays going around the neighborhoods we’re targeting and talking with superintendents and the salespeople there. We’ll spend 2 to 4 hours on Monday and Friday developing the education courses we’re going to offer to local colleges and universities here in Austin.

Wednesday will be his social media day to get in some groups, Facebook, and Twitter to make relationship building posts and valuable information.

We set up a meeting with Blake who might be an intern for us. She is currently studying graphic design at St. Edwards and does some freelance work for her mom’s company which photographs new builder home developments which is where we met her at one of these open houses.

We now feel like we have a full handle on the assets we currently have in-house and what we need to develop. We talked with our contact Daniel about getting the contact details for his craigslist posting expert.

I went over with Andrew his assignments for the day which were to get us 20 craigslist ads built and also some video footage of himself playing Halo because we’re going to use this in a marketing campaign to sell a Halo strategy guide.

The call with the mobile marketing expert went very well and I learned quite a bit about the mobile marketing system {link here} which we’ll be using.

Things are coming together rapidly and we’re going to have 4 main lead gen sources working for us:

1. Craigslist and other classified ad postings which we’ll drive to our landing page

2. Videos on YouTube and other video sites which we’ll drive to our landing page

3. Yard signs — old school but still very effective

4. Superintendents and others who are in real estate who can send us deals (referral sources)

I had some old signs we are going to use but they don’t have the appropriate message so we’re going to have to repurpose them. Overall another productive day.

Small Business Marketing – Apr 3 – Day 14 of 45 Days to Freedom Challenge

2011 April 3

Sunday was a light day because I’m taking my granddad to church this morning and playing dominoes in the afternoon with him, my sister, and another resident there at the assisted living place.

I do have a big party tonight over at the office HQ at Steve’s. It went very well and got to meet lots of interesting marketers in the field.

There was lots of talk about Forex because a couple of guys there were experts in this marketplace. Craig who works for Mike Dillard was also in from Hawaii and was an interesting guy. We talked about the original Masters of Money video series and I’m definitely going to look that up.

It was quite an eclectic and skilled group that joined us at the bonfire. Jonathan did a tremendous job grilling up some organic steak. Tara who is Craig’s girlfriend did an excellent job with the grilled vegetables.

Good eats and also bonfire joined with tremendous company to make a very successful party. It’s going to be an outstanding week I can already tell.
